How long does it take to make handcrafted fashion?
The honest answer is: longer than anything mass-produced. And that is precisely the point.
At AYRA, every piece takes 12-15 days to create after your order is placed. This is not a logistics delay or a shipping estimate — this is the actual time required for master artisans to craft your piece from beginning to end. The fabric is selected. The pattern is prepared. The embroidery or appliqué work begins — and continues, stitch by stitch, piece by piece, until the design is complete to our exacting standards. The garment is constructed. It is finished. It is inspected. And only when it is perfect does it leave our hands.
What actually happens during the 12-15 day crafting period?
Day 1-2: Fabric selection and preparation. Your premium fabric is selected, pre-washed if required, and prepared for the embroidery or appliqué work.
Day 2-8: The embroidery or appliqué work. This is where the largest time investment occurs. Master artisans work on the hand embroidery or geometric appliqué that defines your piece — placing each stitch, each fabric element, with precision and care. This cannot be rushed. Rushing produces work of inferior quality. Our standards do not permit inferior quality.
Day 8-11: Garment construction. The embellished fabric is cut and constructed into the final garment. Seams are finished. Silhouette is checked against your measurements or our standard sizing templates.
Day 11-13: Finishing. Final details — buttons, finishing stitches, any final embellishment elements — are completed. The garment is steamed and pressed.
Day 13-15: Quality inspection. Every piece is inspected against our quality standards before being approved for packaging and dispatch.
Why does handcrafted fashion take longer than machine-made?
The answer is simple: a machine can complete in minutes what takes an artisan hours. What the machine produces is perfectly uniform, perfectly efficient, and perfectly characterless. What the artisan produces, in those hours, is something that carries the irreplaceable quality of genuine human skill — the dimensional texture of real embroidery, the precise geometry of hand-applied appliqué, the knowledge that this piece was made by a person who cares about their craft.
The time is not a limitation. It is a feature.
Is the wait for handcrafted fashion worth it?
Ask any woman who has received a genuine handcrafted piece what she thought when she opened the packaging. The answer is always the same. The wait becomes invisible the moment the piece is in her hands. What she is holding is clearly, unmistakably worth every day.
This is the gift of handcrafted fashion — the experience of receiving something genuinely made for you, by skilled hands, with complete care and intention. No mass-produced piece has ever produced that feeling. None ever will.
